Cookie Policy

Last updated: October 9, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how fortnever.com (the “Site”), run by Fort Never in Austin, Texas, uses cookies and similar technologies, what each cookie does, and how you can control them. We keep cookies to a minimum: the Site uses only what it needs to run the store, keep accounts secure, and remember your choices. We do not use advertising cookies, and no third-party analytics is installed by default. This policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website saves in your browser. They let the site remember things between page loads, such as the items in your cart or the fact that you are logged in. Cookies set by the website you are visiting are called first-party cookies. Cookies set by another company’s service that appears on the page, such as an embedded video player, are called third-party cookies.

Some cookies are deleted when you close your browser (session cookies). Others stay for a set period or until you delete them (persistent cookies). Websites can also use similar technologies, such as your browser’s local storage or session storage, which work in much the same way. In this policy, “cookies” covers all of these.

2. Categories we use

  • Strictly necessary. Required for the Site to work: shopping cart, checkout, login, security, and remembering your cookie choices. These cannot be switched off in our cookie banner, because the Site would not function without them. The law allows these without consent.
  • Functional. Remember choices you make, such as saving your name for future comments or your account display settings. These are set only when you use the related feature.
  • Third-party media. Set by YouTube, Spotify, or SoundCloud, only after you click to load one of their embedded players.
  • Analytics and advertising. None in use. If we ever add analytics, it will run only after you consent through the cookie banner, and we will update this policy first.

The table below lists the cookies our Site may set. Names ending in [hash] or [UID] include a unique code generated for each site or user. Durations are the standard settings of each tool and may vary slightly with software updates.

WooCommerce may also use your browser’s session storage (with keys such as wc_fragments_[hash] and wc_cart_hash_[hash]) to display your cart quickly. This data stays in your browser and is cleared when you close the tab or browser.

If you pay with PayPal, you complete payment on PayPal’s own pages or window, where PayPal sets its own cookies under its privacy statement.

4. Embedded media (click-to-load)

Our music and videos are also hosted on YouTube, Spotify, and SoundCloud. To protect your privacy, we do not load these players automatically. Each one appears as a placeholder with a “load” button. No request is made to the third-party service, and no third-party cookies are set, until you click that button.

When you click to load an embed, your browser connects to the provider, which receives your IP address and browser details and may set its own cookies or use local storage. Those cookies are controlled by the provider, not by us, and their names and durations can change at any time.

Provider Examples of cookies Purpose (as described by provider) Duration Category
YouTube (Google LLC) YSC, VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE, and others Video playback, preferences, security, and measuring video use Session to about 6 months, or longer for some cookies Third-party media
Spotify (Spotify AB) Set by Spotify, such as sp_t Player functionality, preferences, and measurement Set by Spotify Third-party media
SoundCloud (SoundCloud Global Limited & Co. KG) Set by SoundCloud Player functionality, preferences, and measurement Set by SoundCloud Third-party media

For details, see the policies of Google/YouTube, Spotify, and SoundCloud. If you would rather not load an embed, you can always open the track or video directly on the platform, or simply leave the placeholder alone.

5. What we do not use

  • No third-party analytics by default. We do not run Google Analytics or similar tools. If we add analytics later, it will be off until you consent.
  • No advertising or retargeting cookies, and no social media tracking pixels.
  • No external font or script requests. Our fonts and scripts are self-hosted, so viewing a page does not contact Google Fonts or a third-party CDN.

Our cookie banner

When you first visit the Site, the CookieYes banner asks for your choices. Strictly necessary cookies are always active. You can accept or reject optional categories, or customize them one by one. Your choice is stored in the cookieyes-consent cookie for 12 months, after which we ask again.

To change your mind at any time, click the “Cookie Settings” link in the footer of any page. This reopens the preferences panel, where you can update or withdraw your consent. Withdrawing consent does not affect cookies already set lawfully before you changed your choice, but you can delete those using your browser settings.

Your browser

Most browsers let you view, block, and delete cookies. You can usually find these options in the browser’s settings under “Privacy” or “Security”:

  • Chrome: Settings > Privacy and security > Third-party cookies / Delete browsing data
  • Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari (Mac): Settings > Privacy > Manage Website Data
  • Safari (iPhone/iPad): Settings app > Safari > Advanced > Website Data
  • Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions

Menu names change between browser versions, so check your browser’s help pages if these steps differ. Please note that if you block all cookies from fortnever.com, the cart, checkout, and account login will not work.

Global Privacy Control

We treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a request to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information. Because we do not sell or share personal information or use advertising cookies, our practices already match that request.

7. Changes to this policy

We will update this Cookie Policy if we add, remove, or change cookies, for example if we install a new plugin or enable analytics. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it last changed. Where a change requires your consent, the cookie banner will ask you again.
